Frequently asked questions

How do I check whether a CN code is subject to EU sanctions?

Enter the 8-digit CN code or the goods name in the search above. The tool shows the sanctions status, the regime (Russia 833/2014 or Belarus 765/2006), annex, article, exemptions and the act version date, with a link to EUR-Lex. It takes a few seconds and is free.

Does no result mean I can export?

No. "No match" only means the code was not found in our database of regimes, not that the trade is allowed. Check a higher level of the CN code, another regime and, separately, the list of sanctioned persons and entities. The binding text is the EU regulation.

Where does the data come from and how often is it updated?

The data comes from the consolidated texts of EU regulations in EUR-Lex and from the TARIC nomenclature. For each code we show the act version date and a direct link to the source so you can verify the wording in the original.

Does this replace counterparty screening?

No. The tool checks the goods, that is whether the CN code is restricted. Sanctions screening of persons and entities is a separate process that verifies the counterparty against sanctions lists. Both steps are needed.

Is the result legal advice?

No. The tool supports due diligence and is informational. The final assessment of a transaction is confirmed by a law firm or customs agency. The binding text is the EU regulation in force.

This result is informational only and is not legal or customs advice. The binding source is the EU regulation and the decision of customs authorities. Screen the persons and entities list separately.
